Thursday, 14 January 2016 – Easy Run

Sweat. That’s all I can really say about my runs here. Sweat. It’s not hot, per say, but it’s humid compared to Myanmar. At MAF, I can run at 6:00min/km pace at the start. Here: closer to 7:00min/km. Easy run with 20 min of MAF, and boy was I slow.

Had a discussion with my triathlon friends about the future of our racing. The one we call Hammy had decided to go somewhat my direction and slow down training so he can spend time with his young son. Good call, as that is the direction I took this season by sacrificing my Saturday long rides to coach my son’s soccer.

But sacrificing doesn’t mean slowing down. Well, perhaps I’m slowing down, but I’m also “slowing down” to build my aerobic foundation so I can go faster in the future. This is only testing week so far, and other than sore glutes and quads from the strength tests, I’m not fatigued at all. Not entirely convinced yet that the body can make itself more aerobically efficient by going MAF all the way, but having heard several anecdotal evidence, I am placing all my trust into coach to get me to aerobic efficiency so I can be faster in the years to come.
