—  10 X 50 on 2:30 —

CD streamline side kicking with fins + stroke

I know I shouldn’t feel this way as this is my first swim in a long time. But it is disheartening to find myself struggle just to make 50 on 1:15. First couple laps I can get close to 1:00, but it quickly deteriorated to 1:15, forcing myself to push the time to 1:20 to catch a quick breather at 6-8. But 9-10, found my groove again and managed to crank out 1:15 without needing a breather.

Didn’t record the drills laps, so time should be well near an hour.
Globally, I always dread getting to the pool, but always always feel grateful I did the pool session at the end. Perhaps if I can see some improvement in my swimming time will I not dread to see the pool, as I have not seen much improvement, if any, since the start of my swimming practice in triathlon. I’ve got coaches to see my stroke, I’ve pushed my butt and feet peak out of the water for horizontal position to reduce drag, but no noticeable improvement. Granted I haven’t placed much emphasis on the swim and have probably missed more swim sessions than the more convenient bike and run, but I’d really like to see improvement in the near future. The 10 x 50 on 2:30 was great, though, and forced me into a push push mindset I haven’t placed on myself for the swim lately. The last time I had a time constraint on laps was with a swim coach early in 2015, but stopped it due to scheduling issues and didn’t find the coach willing to address the swim technique first before working on lap times.

Upper body now sufficiently cooked and I know I’m gonna be sore tomorrow. Miss this feeling…
