First half 10bpm below MAF, second half at MAF for 1:20. That means first 40min I have to run at 130bpm before raising my HR to 140bpm.
It was difficult finding the proper pace to run at 130bpm. There is such a narrow threshold between power walking and light jog that I had to drop to a walk to decrease my HR to 130bpm, only to have it rise above 130bpm when I jogged again.
Eventually I got the rhythm and managed a very slow jog to even out the HR at 130bpm.
The surprise came during the MAF half. Usually, 40 minutes into a run, it would be difficult to get my HR below 140bpm. But in this case, it was simple! I think this may be the key and the method to get my pace faster at MAF.
