My usual rest day, and this is the rest week of my three-week meso-cycle, so I’m taking it easy.
I don’t think I want to continue testing my LF/HF and HRV anymore. Just like how drawing blood to measure cortisol will screw up the test because of the inherent stress of drawing blood, I’m stressing out too much to achieve good readings that I’m giving myself, or at least I’m thinking I’m giving myself terrible readings.
I’ve had enough time to compare how I feel to the “readings” and I can safely declare that I know when my body is still in fight and flight mode versus a recovered one. It takes me roughly a full 24 hours for my body to recover from a hard workout before I feel recovered enough to start the next one. So if I workout 5PM one afternoon hard, I won’t feel right until about 5PM the next day. As for easy workouts, on the other hand, I can usually work out in the morning if I have to without issue.
I’m getting regular 20 minute meditation sessions in to help make myself more aware of my body. I started using the Headspace app, and the guided meditation taught me how to frame my mind and my thoughts to achieve the right meditation mindset.
